The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and Paddle On Outfitters are hosting a morning paddle down the Kishwaukee River — through beautiful old growth forest and native prairie, from Siems Park in Union to the Hwy 23 bridge in Marengo. Some of us from Beautify Marengo are planning to join and wanted to pass it along!
Reservations close Thursday, June 11.
Renting a kayak from Paddle On Outfitters:
- Single kayak: $55 · Tandem kayak: $75 · Shuttle ticket: $13

- Kayaks will be staged at Siems Park by 7:30 AM
- Park your vehicle at the Hwy 23 bridge — Paddle On will shuttle you to the launch site

After the paddle:
We may stop for lunch at Pointers (106 S State St, Marengo) — all are welcome!

- Launch: Siems Park, 16711 Highbridge Rd, Union, IL 60180
- End / Parking: Hwy 23 Bridge, Marengo, IL — park on the lawn south of the bridge railings or on 8th Ave on the other side of the U-Haul
What to bring: Water shoes, water, light snacks, river-appropriate clothing, sunglasses, watertight case for electronics and keys.
Provided with all rentals: Adult PFDs, paddles, laminated maps.
